What is a Split System Heat Pump?
A traditional home comfort system has two parts: an indoor unit such as a furnace or air handler and an outdoor unit. A heat pump is the outdoor unit that cools or heats air and sends it to the indoor unit to be circulated through your home. The indoor and outdoor units are designed to work together. And when the heat pump is properly matched with a furnace or air handler, the result is maximum efficiency and extended system life.

The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rates heat pump cooling efficiency, and the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) rates heating efficiency. Higher ratings indicate higher efficiency. Coleman® offers heat pump ratings of up to 16 SEER and HSPF ratings up to 9.0, when matched with a variable-speed air handler.
